There exist at east 4 types of poker players. Belonging to this or that type players have both strong and weak points and all of them have advantages over others in some particular situations.
Each style is based on two attributes:
If the player is tight (plays very few hands) or loose (plays a lot of hands):
If the player is aggressive (raises and bluffs) or passive (calls other players bets).
Loose-Aggressive
In fact it is the weakest category in online poker. These players are constantly raising before and after the flop. Their strategy often works against poor players and will win a lot of small pots, but online, these players will go broke quickly. Loose-Aggressive players attract sharks. Sharks let such a player has his small pots, but then they are ready to break this player and win all his money. The only way this strategy works is for the player to wander from one table to another approximately every 50 hands.
Loose-Passive
They are no more stronger than the first group. The players of this group will gain success if there are a lot of wild players at the table and everything is determined only by luck. They typically will simply call the bets of the other players disregarding the Pot Odds or strength of their hand. Such players can stay in the game longer than anybody else, but they will never be able to beat the house edge.
Tight-Passive
With the help of bad players at the table players of this type win. Such players are easy to notice. Such players never bluff. If this type of player has a decent hand or a lot of outs, he or she will call your bet or make a small bet. If not, they will fold.
Tight-Aggressive
This is the best type among all others. They have the following principle of the game: see a flop with a decent hand and then take a shot at the pot after the flop with a bet.
