Poker is played all over the world It combines principles of card games known hundreds of years ago in Europe and probably long before that in the Orient, but in its present form it is distinctly of American origin. Nowadays there are exist many poker variations, but there are not many differences between them. The principle of the game is the same for all poker variations. A person who has learned these principles can play without difficulty in any game. Poker is a game of betting as to which player holds the best hand. In most poker variations the combination of five highest-ranking cards form a winning hand, but in some poker games the strongest hands are different. When playing High/Low poker there can be two players, who can win and then split the pot. The player who has the strongest hand and the player, who has the weakest hand are the winners. All bets made by all players go in a pile of chips in the center of the table, called the pot. No player can compete for the pot unless he or she is willing to meet the highest bet made by another player. Because of this rule, players are able to bluff and win the pot. The object of the game is to win the pot. There are two ways of winning the pot. When all the bets are made by the players, they show down their cards. The player who has the strongest hand is the winner. The player can make a very high bet, which will not be supported by other players. In this case other players have to fold and the player with the high bet is the winner without showing his cards. All cards of the 52 card deck are used. The cards are dealt one at a time, clockwise motion (number of cards varies with game). Aces are high, but aces rank low in the sequence A-2-3-4-5.
