All poker players can be divided into four groups. All these types of players have their own techniques which can be very useful under certain circumstances.
There are at least two main attributes for each of these types.
If the player is tight (plays very few hands) or loose (plays a lot of hands):
Whether the player is aggressive or passive. An aggressive player raises and bluffs a lot. A passive player prefers to call the bets of other players.
Loose-Aggressive
In fact it is the weakest category in online poker. These players are constantly raising before and after the flop. Their strategy often works against poor players and will win a lot of small pots, but online, these players will go broke quickly. Loose-Aggressive players attract sharks. The sharks are fine with letting these players have 10 small pots; they are after the three large pots which will eventually break this player. To avoid such results it is better for such players to change tables from time to time. For example, every 50 hands.
Loose-Passive
This is another weak category. The players of this group will gain success if there are a lot of wild players at the table and everything is determined only by luck. Their strategy is to call the bets of other players no matter how strong their hands are. Such players can stay in the game longer than anybody else, but they will never be able to beat the house edge.
Tight-Passive
With the help of bad players at the table players of this type win. Such players are easy to notice. You never have to worry about a bluff from them. This player is more likely to call the bets of other players or to make small bets. If not, they will fold.
Tight-Aggressive
This is the best type among all others. They have the following principle of the game: see a flop with a decent hand and then take a shot at the pot after the flop with a bet.
