Poker originates from several games, but hardly anybody knows these games. Poker can originate from some Chinese or Persian game. According to some resources the game came form France. On the one hand the first country, in which card games appeared was China and the first game with 25 cards and 5 suits appeared in Persia, on the other hand, it was France, where gamblers began to play with decks with 4 suits: spades, diamonds, clubs and hearts. So, the origin of the game is still discussed. New Orleans was the first state, in which the game of Poker appeared, later, the game was played all over the country. The game of Poker became very popular nearly at once, but then it was a little different from the game we play now. New Poker variations, which were also very popular appeared during the Civil War. Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers were introduced and they became every popular. New Poker variations such as Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers enjoyed wide popularity during the Wild West period of the US history. Only when playing Poker you play against other players and not against the house. There are a lot of Poker variations, which differ from each other in some features, but still the hierarchy of winning hand combinations remains the same. Nowadays you can play Poker in any casino in nearly any country.
