The game of Poker is based on several games, but still nobody can say for sure what these games are. Poker can originate from some Chinese or Persian game. According to some books France is the birthplace of Poker. On the one hand the first country, in which card games appeared was China and the first game with 25 cards and 5 suits appeared in Persia, on the other hand, it was France, where gamblers began to play with decks with 4 suits: spades, diamonds, clubs and hearts. So, the origin of the game is still discussed. New Orleans was the first state, in which the game of Poker appeared, later, the game was played all over the country. The game of Poker became very popular nearly at once, but then it was a little different from the game we play now. During the civil war other Poker variations appeared and they were very popular. Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers were introduced and they became every popular. New Poker variations such as Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers enjoyed wide popularity during the Wild West period of the US history. Poker is the only casino game, in which players play against each other, but not against the house. Poker has many variations, although the rules of play and strategy differ, the hierarchy of winning hands remains the same. Nowadays Poker is one of the popular and most played card games in the world.
