> Standard American Poker Rules Poker is popular all over the world. Poker has some features of the card games, which were played long ago, but the modern version of the game is a purely American game. There exist several Poker variations, but they don’t differ from each other greatly, the principle is the same. A person who has learned these principles can play without difficulty in any game. Poker is a game of betting and card combinations. Traditionally the strongest hand available is a combination of 5 highest-ranking cards, there are poker variations, in which the best hands are different. In a High/Low Poker game, two players have the opportunity to win and split the pot. The player with the highest-ranking hand and the player with the lowest-ranking hand win. The bets made by the players are added to the pot, which is situated in the center of the table. You can compete for the pot only if you agree to meet the highest bet made by another player. Because of this rule, players are able to bluff and win the pot. The object of the game is to win the pot. The pot can be won in two different ways. After making all the bets there is a showdown. The player who has the strongest hand is the winner. If during betting, a player makes a bet that no other players are willing to meet, that player wins the pot without showing his/her cards. All cards of the 52 card deck are used. The cards are dealt one at a time, clockwise motion (number of cards varies with game). Aces are high, but aces rank low in the sequence A-2-3-4-5.
