The video poker machine has been without doubt one of the most popular gambling machines in existence throughout the years. Video poker is of course based on the original 5 card game of poker. Since the 1880s poker has been played in the USA. The earliest records of the video poker machine were coin operated machines which used playing cards on drums and not a CGI powered poker game. These gambling machines appeared in the late 1800s, they were introduced by Sittman and Pitt of Brooklyn. These machines were like modern slots, as they have the same principle of work. The player inserted a coin and pulled the handle, which spun five drums. The player would put all his faith in luck as the drums stopped. Then if the player had a winning hand he was rewarded with drinks or cigars from the bar. Later, in 1901 ‘hold’ and ’draw’ options were added to these machines by Charles Fey. Now, that these machines had ‘draw’ and ‘hold’ features video pokers were not only the game of a chance, but also of skill. Only then the time of video pokers came. With the introduction of computers, it was then only a matter of time before Video Poker came about. Video pokers attracted a lot of players nearly at once. Nowadays online casinos offer a great variety of video poker games.
